When my grown daughter needed her mom last, I was incredibly thankful I could be here for her. It got me thinking…
Forever we need
Our mother’s love
Forever we need
Her touch
Forever we need
Our mother’s words
Saying she loves us much.
Forever we need
A tender look
Forever we need
Her care
Forever we need
A gentle voice
Saying she’s always there.
Forever she’ll wipe
Our flowing tears
Forever she’ll calm
Our soul
Forever her words
Will guide our way
Helping to make us whole.
Forever her songs
Will cheer our heart
Forever the words
Ring true
Forever her laugh
Will lift us up
Whenever we’re feeling blue.
But when forever
Is too much time
And Mother cannot
Be near
Our Heav’nly Father
Is always close
To offer a list’ning ear.
God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5 NIV).
Why not write a poem for your child? Even if you don’t consider yourself a writer, just pour out your heart. It will be something you and your little one can treasure – even after he or she is all grown up.
