Last Round 4 Check-in

These were my original Round 4 goals. My follow-up comments are in red.

1. By the end of this round, I intend to have Living Beyond My Circumstances completed. OK, that’s barring any major rewrites. In keeping with Kait’s advice to make specific goals, that will mean writing two more chapters and the appendices plus editing the intro. Deb and I are working our way through the last pre-submission edit. I have one more chapter to complete, and Deb will be adding to one of the appendices. Good news…we’re chatting with an agent and two publishers. Twenty-twelve is going to be a very exciting year.

2. Within the next two weeks, I should be finished editing the two manuscripts I’m working on. I assume these were manuscripts I was working on for Christian Editing Services. I completed them – and others – during this round.

3. I plan to continue regularly updating my blogs. It’s about time I got serious about SEO as well. The blogging has been pretty much on track. And I’ve given more thought to the tags I’ve attached. However, that’s all the work I’ve done in the area of SEO.

4. By the end of October, I want to have my essay and my research paper written for my labour doula certification course. October? Seriously? Well, that didn’t happen. And I’m thinking at least the research paper might have to wait until January.

5. I don’t remember which fellow Round 3 ROWer included reading for skills development as one of his/her goals, but please consider the goal stolen. I haven’t done as much of this as I would have liked, but I have done some.

6. And speaking of stolen goals…I want to thank those who faithfully encouraged others, myself included, during the last round. You motivated me to do the same, and then volunteer as a sponsor this time. I hope to get to know a lot of you over the next few months. I’ve done okay in this area, but would like to do better during Round 1 of 2012. Yep, I’m coming back, and by the sounds of it, many of you are too.

Tentative Goals

1. Submit at least three of the picture book ideas I have kicking around. Well, the year isn’t quite over, so I may do so by then, but I haven’t fulfilled this goal to date. However, I did participate in Picture Book Idea Month and have over 30 new ideas.

2. Complete the outline and the first draft of three more chapters in my children’s chapter book. Sadly, my main character is still in limbo. However, I have some ideas for a major rewrite of Chapter 1. Perhaps, I should just write the story without chapters and then concern myself with all that later. Hm, there’s an idea.

Have a…
