Silent Screams for Help

My young friend Millie Naylor wrote the poem below. I’m so thankful she allowed me to share it with you.

Sad Woman

You don’t have to say a word,

You don’t even have to open your mouth,

For the Lord will hear your silent screams for help.

There are struggles you face

When you turn your back to God,

Things that lead you down a dark path,

As you’re blinded by the devil,

Sucked into worldly ways,

Only to get stuck in your own sin like quicksand,

The more you struggle,

The faster you sink,

And you’re already in waist-deep.

In all these struggles,

There will be times where two paths meet

And you will have a chance to choose what’s right.

In that moment,

I hope you remember

You never have to say a word,

You never even have to open your mouth

Because the Lord always hears your silent screams for help.

  1. Amen to the prayer for the hurting one(s) to cry out to God and to find His healing embrace. Funny, one of the songs on my mp3 player this morning was Skillet’s “Whispers in the Dark” — much the same cry.

    Thank you, Millie and Stephanie.

Thanks for sharing this Steph. Millie, thank you so much for this gentle reminder that our Father hears our every cry. So often we tend forget that Papa is always there with us and He cares about EVERY aspect of our lives, even when we lose sight of Him.
