The Hungry Heart by Heather Joyes

Heart in Wood

I am honoured to once again feature one of Heather’s poems. Heather is a fellow member of Women Writing for Christ and a dear friend.

The hungry heart
Aches for the void
Left vacant from neglect,
It longs to thrive
With the assurance
Only He can provide,
In moments of solitude,
Repetitive beats
Stir deep memories,
Thoughts buried and denied
Are awakened,
A sense of urgency
Born of hope arises,
Urging forgiveness and repentance,
Now in humble faith,
Eager to embrace and be filled
By the sweet fragrance
Of the Saviour
Forevermore.
